Pain is always real — even when tests fail to clearly identify its cause. It is never imagined or invented. It manifests in the body and deserves to be taken seriously, approached with compassion, and understood through a biopsychosocial lens.
Often, the root lies in how the body and nervous system have learned to respond to stress, emotions, or significant life events. Trauma, life hardships, psychological conflict, or relational difficulties can all trigger, amplify, or sustain pain. While conventional pain management approaches don’t always address these dimensions in depth, EAET was developed precisely for this purpose.
The good news is that change is possible. Understanding these mechanisms is often a crucial first step toward lasting relief. With the right support and genuine commitment to the process, it becomes possible to reduce pain, rebuild a sense of safety in your body, and move toward a better quality of life.
EAET was developed by researchers Mark Lumley and Howard Schubiner.
EAET is built on the recognition that emotions, when chronically avoided or suppressed, can maintain a state of tension in the nervous system — fostering hypervigilance, amplifying bodily sensations, and perpetuating protective patterns that have outlived their purpose.
The goal is not to relive the past, but to allow certain emotional experiences to be integrated more peacefully. The work involves developing a more refined awareness of these processes.
Sessions consist of guided conversations and exercises tailored to your comfort level.

The pace is carefully adapted to provide a sense of safety, while gently creating the conditions for emotions to surface and be released.
This approach may be particularly relevant if you:
EAET integrates naturally with other approaches offered here (hypnosis, mindfulness, neurofeedback, etc.) to support comprehensive nervous system and pain regulation.
A free 30-minute consultation lets you learn about this approach and see whether it’s right for you.
