Understanding pain

Calm the nervous system
Together, we work to reduce hypervigilance and reactivity, helping you build a more stable internal state and greater resilience to triggers.

“After the first mindfulness meditation session, I received several hypnosis sessions with Dr. Paolini that helped me realize the connection between the traumas of my childhood and my chronic pain. Since then, I have been meditating daily, and the mental calm that meditation brings me has had a real impact on my pain. Thank you, Dr. Paolini, for your professionalism, your excellent care, and your trust.”

“Dr. Paolini, an anesthesiologist, uses a different and innovative approach to treating chronic pain. Dr. Paolini had previously hypnotized me on two occasions, and it had been beneficial for me. Thanks to learning self-hypnosis, I now have a new and effective way to manage my chronic pain. Dr. Paolini is highly effective and professional, but also pleasant, attentive, supportive, and encouraging. I am so grateful. He has truly changed my life for the better.”

Frequently Asked Questions
When should you reach out to me?
If conventional approaches to chronic pain haven't brought relief, particularly in cases of fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, long COVID, and any chronic pain that has not responded to treatment.
If you suspect a chronic dysregulation of your nervous system, such as overwhelming physical anxiety, episodes of dissociation, or a feeling of floating, then I can help.
What makes my approach different?
My primary goal is to assess how your nervous system is functioning and to help you regain calm, flexibility, and resilience — because I believe most symptoms stem from dysregulation.
Do I use medication?
In most cases, no. However, I am a doctor and therefore I can prescribe if necessary. In complex cases, I may draw on certain pharmacological approaches (see section Other).
What is the success rate?
With motivated individuals — when the conditions are right (acceptance, openness, and a willingness to let go) — accessing internal resources is often both possible and rapid, leading to genuine relief and a new path forward.
